So a cowlick is a section of hair that grows in a different direction than the rest, causing it to stick up, split, or resist lying flat- no matter how we style it. I have a better way of describing them: Inspiration! Cowlicks dictate everything about your haircut, from the way it should be cut, to how short it will be cut, or what should be the most natural effortless hairstyle for you.
